## Word Wall

**Extend – continue the pattern using the pattern rule**

**Term number – the position of each item in a sequence**

**Core – the part of the pattern that repeats**

**Geometric pattern – a pattern of shapes**

**Term – the numbers or items in a sequence**

**Increasing sequence – each number is greater than the one before it**

**Decreasing sequence – each number is less than the one before it**

**Repeating Pattern – pattern has a core that continues, without increasing or decreasing**

**Constant – a number that always stays the same in an algebra expression**

**Equation – a number sentence showing two parts are equal**

**5n means 5 x n**

**Gap – the difference between two number terms (+3) or (-5)**

**Unknown or Variable – a line, box or letter in a math equation that we don’t know and need to solve**
